Slam Jam and New Balance have teamed up again, this time to release a UK made New Balance 991, trousers and complementary sports jacket.
Slam Jam x New Balance 991
Italian brand Slam Jam is working on a special project with the New Balance 991. This latest collaboration is part of the celebration of the 991's 20th anniversary. In addition, it reflects Slam Jam's concept of '(Un)corporate Uniforms', where the emphasis is on a practical style and calm colorway. The campaign imagery was shot by New York-based creative Katie Burnett. The images also include New Balance's famous shop in Shap, England.
About Slam Jam
Slam Jam was founded in 1989 by Luca Benini. The brand was born to support the underground scene, long before the term streetwear even existed. From its headquarters in Ferrara, Slam Jam was able to develop its own unique style, using art, music and clubbing as a guiding principle to get in touch with like-minded groups from all over the world. Of course, it also became the first Italian importer of then unknown brands such as Stüssy.
Slam Jam started with a small warehouse in the rural suburbs of Ferrara. Over the past 32 years, the brand has grown into a globally recognised brand representing subcultures. Today, it uses its knowledge and experience within the community to promote the style of subcultures worldwide. Slam Jam also works with other brands as a global go-to-market and they offer everything from directing branding and marketing to the creation of the brand. From driving branding and design to creating community involvement.
You must be wondering now what (Un)corporate Uniforms is
This is Slam Jam's very first solo project from 2020. It is an expression of Slam Jam worked out in clothing. It is also an ongoing research project, with the aim of understanding and helping to define the concept of uniform. The distinctive clothing that the brand creates is meant to be worn by members of the same group/subculture around the world. The clothing allows these groups to unite and distinguish themselves from others.
Previous Collabs
This is not the first time we have seen a collaboration between the two appear. In fact, a very exclusive collaboration appeared in October 2019. At that time, 89 pairs of Slam Jam x New Balance 990v3 were sold. This time, more pairs are being sold, so there are still some more people who can get their hands on the sneakers.
Details of the new model
The Slam Jam x New Balance 991 sneakers consist of a rather quiet colorway. The upper of the silhouette is made of nylon and hardened pigskin suede in grey and black colours. In addition, reflective accents can be seen on the nose and collar. These reflective accents match the finish of the metallic N logo on the shoe.
Each pair comes with three different laces, so you can customise the look. You can choose between red, grey or black laces and they all have the Slam Jam logo on the aglets. On the reflective insole you can see the logo of both brands. There are also rubber details on the heel and tips, and a two-colour ABZORB equipped sole on the kicks.
Extra Slam Jam x New Balance details
There will also be a waterproof anorak and a pair of relaxed fit track trousers. The design takes mobility into account. That's why Slam Jam added reflective accents to the bio-movement points to emphasize this both figuratively and physically. Check out the sneak peaks below!

The Slam Jam x New Balance 991 will be released on May 7 at Slam Jam and at the New Balance shop in Shap. A global launch will follow on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 00:00.
