After a long wait it is time: The Nike Dunk High 'Syracuse' is finally returning! In 2016, the striking 'Syracuse' colorway was already seen on the Dunk High and in 2020 on the Dunk Low. On March 11, 2021, the white-orange colorway will be seen again on the High silhouette.
'Syracuse': OG Colorway
The orange colorway first appeared during the original release of Nike's 'Be True to Your School' pack in 1985. This pack was designed with matching colorways for a number of American universities that had popular basketball programs. Nike developed the shoes so fans could support the basketball players with matching colours to their team.
One of the universities was Syracuse University in New York. The colour that goes with this Uni is, you guessed it, the bright orange colour. Besides this 'Syracuse' colour, other Nike Dunk High colorways were designed. Among others, the universities of Iowa, Georgetown and Kentucky.
Nike Dunk: From Basketball Player to Sneakerlover
The Nike Dunk was originally designed as a basketball shoe. Later, the model also became popular among skateboarders and many Dunk Low's were released under Nike SB. Since the spring of 2020, there seems to be a big comeback of the model. Since then, the Dunks are not only released by Nike Dunk SB, but also by Nike Dunk. For example, a few weeks ago the colorways: 'Vast Grey' and 'Varsity Red' were released.
