The Nike Air Max BW 'Rotterdam' was released on 12 November 2021. To celebrate this special sneaker, the release was held in the Rotterdam sneaker store Woei. The queue for this in-store release was huge and we from Sneakerjagers were there to capture it all.
Air Max BW 'Rotterdam'
The Nike Air Max BW celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2021. To celebrate this, Nike releases the 'City Pack' as an ode to the nostalgic model. A colorway inspired by the city of Rotterdam could not be missing from this pack. The Dutch city was one of the most famous places that embraced the gabber culture. Gabbers had to be able to jump and dance all night long, so a good pair of sneakers was essential. A favourite pair was the comfortable Air Max BW. Because of the large Air Unit, the pair feels very comfortable.
The bright green colorway takes its inspiration from the colours of Rotterdam. The design also features various details that hint at the city. For example, 'Rotterdam' can be found on the heel of the shoe. Furthermore, '220 BPM' is printed on the tongue, referring to 220 Beats Per Minute: a characteristic beat for hardcore music.
Woei instore release
The Nike Air Max BW 'Rotterdam' dropped only on 12 November at the new shop of Woei in the Hoogstraat 44A. The shop opened at 9:00 a.m., but early on already a huge queue had formed in front of the entrance.
By early morning, there was already a meter-long queue, full of avid sneaker lovers who wanted to get their hands on a pair.
Shop owner Woei Tjin was also present during the release. Via the Nike SNKRS app he has appeared in several episodes of the Nike Air Max BW Stories.
To keep the atmosphere good, rules were shared beforehand by Woei. Of course, the prevailing COVID-19 measures also had to be taken into account. For example, they were asked to be considerate of the neighbourhood, to wear a mask in the shop and to keep a distance of 1.5 metres in the queue.
Despite the huge turnout for the Air Max BW 'Rotterdam', the day went off without a hitch. The atmosphere was good and the rules were observed well.
