The latest PUMA silhouette, the Velophasis, takes its inspiration from the running shoes of the 2000s. The model features a chunky silhouette and comes with revolutionary technologies. PUMA Velophasis
The PUMA Velophasis is an archival-inspired sneaker that pays homage to years of running history through the lens of PUMA's COMPLETE line from the 2000s. During this period, the German sports brand developed revolutionary technologies such as the iCELL, e+CELL, and EverRide, which were used around the world.
Building on this heritage, the VELOPHASIS adapts the silhouette to the visual codes of Y2K culture - think asymmetrical uppers, honeycomb-patterned mesh, textured panels, and inserts straight out of the '00s, but with contemporary materials.
This manifests itself in a modern-looking sneaker. The Velophasis silhouette has dynamic overlays running throughout the design. The upper is mesh and reinforcing elements are placed on the heel and toecap. The SOFTFOAM+ and CMEVA technologies in the midsole provide cushioning and comfort.
PUMA event
The release of the new PUMA silhouette was celebrated in a big way. On the weekend of February 11 and 12, 2023, the PUMA Velophasis event took place in Berlin and Sneakerjagers was there. During the event, people were allowed to pound their own Velophasis sneaker out of a plaster block with a hammer. They then got to take the found sneaker home.
During the event, attendees were also able to participate in a workshop by Richard Green. This workshop focused on creativity and allowed everyone to design their own sneaker. The sneaker was printed from a plaster mold and could be decorated with paint, props, and chains.

New colorways
Shortly after the recent release of the Velophasis silhouette, PUMA now comes out with three new colorways of the model. On February 25, 2023, the Velophasis model will be released in the colorways 'White', 'Grey', and 'Black'. Compared to the previously released colorways, the three colorways have an understated look and come in white and black tones.
The 'White' and 'Black' colorways come with a gum sole. This gives the sneaker a retro look and matches well with the sneaker's DNA. The colorways come with transparent TPU elements that give the model a modern twist. Check out the colorways in the release calendar.
The previous colorways are also still available from PUMA, including the 'White Porcelain', 'Multi' en 'Pink Multi'. The sneakers are constructed of mesh and feature silver detailing throughout the upper. The heel features the Velophasis logo. The chunky midsole completes the chunky silhouette of the sneaker. In addition, the Velophasis sneakers are made with vegan materials.
