There is still a very short time to wait until the 35th anniversary of the Air Max 1, tomorrow March 26, 2022 is finally here. The brand surprises us with a first look at the Air Max 1 'Cobblestone'. Unfortunately, there is no release date known for the pair yet, though it is still expected in 2022!
What should be mentioned first is the safari print on the midsole and ankle collar. Of course, this print immediately brings to mind the legendary collaboration between Nike and Atmos. In 2003, they released a similar colorway for the Air Max 1, which is still wildly popular today. So it's not surprising that Nike was inspired again by this iconic release.
In addition to the print, we also see the mini swoosh and textless logo back on the sneaker. Furthermore, with this colorway, they tried to create an earthy and natural look that fits the Safari theme. They have done this by combining colours like 'Cobblestone', 'Worn Blue' and 'Lime Stone'. In addition, the Swoosh has a texture that could be from a wild animal.
The biggest difference from the OG colorway, is that the toe-box is made of soft suede instead of mesh. In addition, the tongue is made of nylon.
When exactly the Air Max 1 'Cobblestone' - Safari will be released is unfortunately not yet known, but it is expected that this will be in 2022! As far as we're concerned, it's definitely worth the wait! For updates on this pair, keep an eye on our release calendar.
