The Nike Air Rift is back - this time in an updated Buckle Strap version. We wrote it before: balletcore is the style trend of 2025 (read the article here). With this release, Nike shows how this drop fits the hype of the moment perfectly.
A sneaker in line with balletcore
Launched in 1996, the original Air Rift was inspired by Kenyan runners who often run barefoot. The shoe takes its name from Kenya's Great Rift Valley, an area characterised, like the shoe's design, by a distinctive ‘split’, as well as the nose of the shoe.
The split-toe design made the shoe instantly recognisable. In this new release, the model gets a modern update with an all-black leather upper and three adjustable buckles: two at the forefoot and one at the heel.
With balletcore style popping up everywhere from catwalks to streetwear, Nike is cleverly capitalising on it. This Buckle Strap version of the Air Rift fits seamlessly into that trend. The combination of elastic textile, buckles, and a blossom charm makes for an eye-catching design.
The exact release date of the Nike Air Rift Buckle Strap has not yet been confirmed. In any case, the trainer will drop through Nike and select retailers in 2025. Keep an eye on our Sneakerjagers release calendar for updates on availability.
