Ronnie Fieg has revealed the next chapter of the Kith x New Balance 2011. Under the name 'Monuments', three new colorways are on the way, each inspired by a place or theme from New York. That gives the Kith x New Balance 2011 a collection built around the city where Kith first started.
The first images appeared on Fieg's Instagram account. Official colorway names, style codes and a release date have not been shared yet. What is clear is the direction of the collection: Madison Square Garden, Central Park and a floral theme.
Three pairs, three pieces of New York
The Central Park pair stands out with its mix of tan and maroon suede. That colour choice is no coincidence.
It looks back at the Ronnie Fieg x New Balance 530 'Central Park' from 2014, one of his earlier collaborations with the Boston brand. Twelve years later, that story returns on a different silhouette.
Madison Square Garden is familiar ground for Kith. The brand hosts Kith Night at the Garden every year.
Early reports suggest the MSG pair is likely to debut there. That has not been officially confirmed yet.
The third pair is the most mysterious for now. The floral theme appears to be based on an old New Balance 530 sample that was previously shown in Kith's Footwear Archive book. Kith has yet to reveal what the pair will be called.
That archive link is exactly what makes it interesting for anyone following the history of Fieg and New Balance.
In terms of build, the three pairs are closely related. The upper combines textured suede with perforated leather, while the colour blocking changes with each theme.
In the campaign images, Kith swapped the side panels for autumn leaves, ticket stubs and flowers. A clever way to show at a glance which story belongs to which pair.
The New Balance 2011 is a retro runner that Kith put in the spotlight around the brand's 15th anniversary. Since then, versions such as Sakura and Leaf Green have already appeared.
With Monuments, Fieg gives the Kith x New Balance 2011 a more personal story: he is known for bringing his favourite places into his designs, and this collection fits right into that.
Release and price
According to early reports, the collection will release soon through Kith's stores and webshop, in unisex sizing. An exact release date and the retail price in euros have not been confirmed, including for Europe. Nothing is known yet about matching apparel either.
