Kith x ASICS Gel-Lyte III Salmon Toe Returns

The Kith ASICS Gel-Lyte III Salmon Toe returns. Ronnie Fieg reissues his rare Salmon Toe from 2011, the pair that now trades for over 2,000 dollars on the resale market. The Kith ASICS Gel-Lyte III is expected in late September.

The reissue sticks to suede and to the distinctive build of the Gel-Lyte III, with the split tongue that set the model apart back then. Notable detail: where ASICS normally sits, the FIEG branding now appears. The original release was minimal: 72 pairs in store and 300 online. Later versions followed in 2016, with darker midsoles, and in 2021, when the colour scheme moved onto the Gel-Lyte 5.

The Salmon Toe counts as one of the releases that made the bond between Fieg and ASICS big. The salmon-pink tones on the toe have since become a hallmark of his work. The Gel-Lyte III dates back to 1990 and was helped to prominence by Fieg on the US market, with reissues that sold out quickly every time. It is exactly that scarcity that makes the original Salmon Toe a sought-after collector's item.

Back to basics

With this Salmon Toe, Fieg reaches back to one of his best-known ASICS collaborations. For anyone who missed the original run, this is a new chance at the colourway.

An official release date and price have not been confirmed. Late September is expected, possibly around an anniversary moment, but that is not set in stone. A European retail price is also still missing. As soon as ASICS and Kith share the details, we will update this.
