The highly anticipated Sean Wotherspoon x Hot Wheels x adidas Superturf Adventure is dropping in August 2022, dear community. The first images of this three-way collaboration were shown in early 2022. Now the eye-catching sneaker has a release date and the Sean Wotherspoon collab will drop at adidas on August 25, 2022.
Sean Wotherspoon
Sean Wotherspoon is a well-known sneaker enthusiast and designer. In 2013, Wotherspoon founded Round Two, a Virginia-based vintage sneaker store. Shortly after founding the vintage store, Wotherspoon started the YouTube series 'Round Two The Show'. In this series, he captures the sneaker industry from his eyes. The series and store go strong, and in 2018 Wotherspoon designs his first sneaker.
Here we are talking about the well-known Nike Air Max 97/1. Since the release of his first own sneaker, Sean has been an integral part of the scene. Sustainability is central in his designs. His designs use recycled materials and are designed with innovation in mind.
In 2020, Wotherspoon announced his collaboration with adidas. In the same year, the designer drops his first sneaker with adidas, the Superstar 'SuperEarth'. The design is characteristic of Wotherspoon: colorful, innovative and durable. Shortly after the Superstar, the ZX 8000 'SuperEarth', EQT Support 93 'Super Earth' and the Superturf Adventure followed.
adidas Superturf Adventure
The last one in particular, the Superturf Adventure, is a notable collaboration. Not only did Sean design the colorway, but the design of the Superturf Adventure is the work of Wotherspoon as well. The sneaker, like his previous works, is designed with durability in mind and has an outdoor look. The model was introduced in 2021 and has since its release several collaborations with Disney and atmos, among others.
A striking detail on the adidas Superturf Adventure, is the pocket on the toe. This hints at the outdoor lifestyle and is detachable from the lace-up. The first images of the Sean Wotherspoon x Hot Wheels x adidas Superturf Adventure appeared in early 2022.

The triple collab comes with a striking colorway of the Supertuf Adventure. The sneaker has a white upper, this one made of mesh. The overlays have been given striking colors which hints at the toy car brand. Hot Wheels cars are known for their vibrant colors and can change color in different weather conditions, just like the sneaker.
A passion for cars
Partnering with a brand like Hot Wheels may not sound very obvious. Yet in Wotherspoon's case, it is. Besides having a passion for sneakers, the designer also has a passion for cars. With multiple, colorful cars in his garage, the designer wants to combine the world of sneakers and cars in his next collab.
This is where the Hot Wheels brand comes in. The toy car brand puts a special twist on the sneakers. The mudguard changes color in different weather conditions, just as the Hot Wheels 'Color Shifters' toy cars do.
In a clip on Sean's Instagram, he shows how this works at the adidas. The Superturf Adventure turns white when dry, but as soon as you hold the sneaker in the rain or sun, a distinctive pattern appears.
Drop
With this design, Sean wants to combine both worlds in his design. With its unique colorway, the sneaker is suitable for young and old. The upper is made with recycled materials, making it a sustainable sneaker. The model is supported by the adiPRENE technology. This gives the pair cushioning and comfort.
