Concepts x Converse honours the birth of basketball

Once again, Concepts x Converse are joining forces. A new collaboration, this time inspired by the birthplace of basketball! No less than two great sneakers are the result of this collaboration. We see that they played a lot with colours and materials.

Boston-based Concepts was founded in 1996 in a basement on Brattle Street and has since become a well-known footwear and clothing brand/shop. Besides several collaborations with Converse, there are many other collaborations that have made Concepts into a renowned footwear shop. Concepts was recently in the spotlights because of their collaboration with Nike (SB Dunk).

People sometimes forget that Converse also started as a basketball sneaker. Converse is a sports brand founded in 1908. When basketball player Chuck Taylor indicated that he had pain in his feet, Converse seized their chance. The collaboration with the basketball player started in 1921. Taylor made the All Star incredibly popular in America. Soon it became a true classic all over the world. The Converse Chuck Taylor can also be seen in this collaboration.

Concepts x Converse Chuck 70

In 1819, Dr James Naismith first started playing basketball with some of his students. They used two peach baskets to score in. This inspiration can clearly be found on one of the sneakers from this collaboration. On the Converse Chuck 70, the upper, made of platinum-suede, has the colour of peaches. Also striking about this model are the laces. These have been given a green colour and seem to be made of rope.

Concepts x Converse BB EVO

The modern Star BB EVO has also been used in this collaboration. The sneaker has been given a lime green colour. On the heel of the sporty sneaker, it gradually turns into the peach colour. The sole also has the same lime green colour as the upper. Just like on the Chuck 70, we also see the striking colour on the 'fuzzy' laces. The Concepts logo can be found on the tongue, just like the Converse logo. Check out photos of the special pair below!

The Concepts x Converse sneakers drop on 28 January. The duo will be available this day via Converse. Keep an eye on our sneaker release calendar, so you never miss a release! For extra information about the releases, read our blogs!
