Celebrate hip-hop's 50th anniversary with StockX's collection

Hip-hop celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, 2023. On 11 August 1973, DJ Kool Herc organised the 'Back To School Jam' in The Bronx, New York, where the new music style is said to have been introduced. The party at 1520 Sedgwick Ave. caused a stir and since then, hip-hop culture has been an integral part of today's music world. But also in the sneaker and street wear community, hip-hop has played a huge role over the years! At StockX, you can find many hip-hop-related trend items.

Hip-hop 50th Anniversary

The year 2023 is an important one for the music genre of hip-hop. The genre has brought a lot with it and has grown into a culture with influences on several fronts over the past decades. What started as a niche has become the most popular music genre in the world.

From DJ Kool Herc, to Mobb Deep, Public Enemy and Drake, hip-hop culture has had a huge impact on the music world. But hip-hop is much more than just music, it is a culture. The b-boys and b-girls, who danced to the music, came up with a unique style of clothing that can still be seen in the fashion world today.
