For Black History Month 2021, PUMA has teamed up with non-profit organization: Black Fives Foundation. Together, they want to bring attention to the forgotten NBA history of African-Americans. The partnership is not for a moment. Black Fives and PUMA are announcing a long-term partnership.
It was only in 1950 that black people were admitted to the basketball league, a mere four years after its founding. Since 2002, the Black Fives Foundation has been dedicated to researching, preserving and bringing attention to the black history of basketball. The partnership with PUMA will help the foundation reach a wider audience and bring more attention to the subject. It is important to know who among others made the NBA great.
February is Black History month. Especially for this important month, PUMA is launching a sneaker and apparel collection in partnership with Black Fives Foundation. "I am proud and honoured to partner with PUMA to make a meaningful, long-lasting difference," said Claude Johnson, founder of the Black Fives Foundation. The shared mission is to highlight those "who helped pave the way for today's game."
Black Fives Foundation x PUMA collection
The first collection consists of one sneaker, clothing items and accessories. The clothing has a beige hue and features the Black Fives Foundation logo. We see the same logo on the tongue of the sneaker. The high-top shoe has an upper made of beige canvas. The PUMA logo on the side of the sneaker has, among other things, a blue colour and different materials. Also the laces have this blue colour. Because of the slightly discolored sole, the PUMA sneaker has a vintage look. On the insole is a piece of history written by the Foundation.
We can expect the Black Fives x PUMA collection this month. The collections of shoes and clothing with the Foundation's slogan 'Make History Now' will be rolled out throughout the month. You can also see the pictures of the clothing below. Keep an eye on the sneaker release calendar, so you never miss a release.
