The adidas Spezial clothing line is back. In the new Summer '22 collection, there are several pieces that combine a 70s style with military details. Also four new sneakers are dropped. The complete adidas Spezial Summer '22 collection will be available from August 12th, 2022 on the adidas website.
Adidas Spezial
The adidas Spezial line was established in 2014 and is curated by Gary Aspden, a brand consultant and adidas fanatic from the UK. This sub-label of the 'Three Stripes' takes inspiration from the adidas archives and the way Casuals dress.
The Casual scene is an English subculture of football hooliganism that emerged in the late 1970s. This group of football supporters got its name from their so-called Terrace fashion, the casual clothes they wore on the football terraces.
Summer '22 collection
With each collection, the Spezial clothing line takes classics from the adidas archives and gives them a new look. The new Summer '22 consists of a combination of 70s aesthetics and military functionality. The model in the lookbook is Syd Minsky-Sargeant, lead singer of the band Working Men's Club.
Apparel
The collection consists of many different garments. For the warmer weather, there is a selection of lightweight tees and polos. There are also some sand-coloured cargo shorts.
At the same time, there are technical outerwear pieces for when it rains, such as the striking Calavadella Jacket in a 'Peach' colour. There is also the minimal grey Abenstein Jacket, which returns from the adidas archives.
For the true casual football fan, there is another tracksuit. With the new Monarch TT tracksuit, adidas reworks the sportswear brand's iconic Beckenbauer silhouette with special black and silicone details. The classic Parbold II bag and a graphic Patch Bucket hat complete the collection.
Sneakers
The adidas Spezial Summer '22 also features five different sneakers: the Warszawa SPZL, Stapfen SPZL, Yabisah SPZL and the ZX 620 SPZL.
The Warszawa SPZL features a red suede upper further decorated with yellow leather on the heel tab and the three stripes. The tongue label is in the classic blue and white adidas colour combination. The pair is rounded off with a navy blue outsole.
The Stapfen SPZL is primarily made from suede that has a sandy hue. Brown suede covers the heel tab, the die cuts and the eyestays. The lining of the pair is made of smooth brown leather. The pair is completed with a matching brown sole.
The upper of the Yabisah SPZL is made of white leather. This is decorated with subtle black lines on the three stripes. The black branding on the tongue label offers a slight contrast to the all-white upper. The special rubber midsole completes the design.
The ZX 620 SPZL is a classic runner with a modern twist. The upper of the sneaker consists of a mix of mesh and leather. The base of the shoe colours cream, with overlays that colour off-white, beige and brown. The sole is brown and beige at the heel, and white at the toe.
