The new adidas by Stella McCartney tracksuit has been designed with sustainability in mind. Stella McCartney has been working with the Three Stripes Brand since 2005 and is known for her clean, timeless designs. The new adidas tracksuit was designed with 12 other parties and drops on 6 October 2022.
The adidas by Stella McCartney tracksuit is part of the New Cotton Project, a European collective focusing on sustainability within the apparel industry. The items, jersey and trousers, are designed to be easily remade. For instance, the tracksuit comes with a QR code that can be scanned and this way you can send the items back to adidas. Here, the items will be recycled.
Design Process
Currently, less than 1% of the apparel industry is produced in a circular way. This is where adidas wants to make a difference and has collaborated with 12 pioneers, including Frankenhuis, to design the most sustainable tracksuit possible. Using Infinited Fiber technology, a new artificial fibre called Infinna™ has been designed. This fibre feels and looks like new cotton.
The tracksuit is 60% viscose and 40% organic cotton. The items come in a soft off-white color and have been given black details all over the design. A print has been put on the back that hints at the material used in the suit. According to Stella McCartney, this suit is an example of how adidas combines sportswear with sustainability:

"More than ever, we are being challenged to find new solutions to deliver the potential for circular fashion, so it's been hugely exciting to collaborate with like-minded thinkers in the fashion landscape to help not only us, but the industry invent, innovate and consiously design."
The Made to Be Remade programme by adidas is an innovative approach to extend the life of clothing items. The adidas by Stella McCartney garment is the latest milestone in the programme that showcases the idea of producing a commercial end-of-life garment.
