Diadora was founded in 1948 by Marcello Danieli, where he started producing mountaineering and hiking shoes for the first time and immediately created an empire. The company then directed its focus onto designing sports shoes.
In the 1970s, they were a growing sports shoe company and were the very first to use 'tool sports marketing'. They asked famous athletes to become ambassadors for the company, with great success. Sports champions like Bjorn Borg, Roy Keane, Roberto Baggio and Marco Van Basten wore the brand and became not only sports legends but also trendsetters. Thanks to these sponsors, Diadora became the world's number one in international sports in the 1980s.
Diadora enjoyed the worldwide fame, and gradually created a luxury sportswear line where they combined sportswear and fashion. This way, people could wear these clothes during sports and also casually.
Today, Diadora is part of the Italian brand Geox, and has developed into one of the biggest companies in the world, both in sports and in fashion. Diadora shoes are comfortable, durable, stylish and popular models include the Diadora N9000 and the Diadora Camaro.
There have also been many successful footwear collabs between Diadora and other brands such as Patta and Highsnobiety.
Generally, Diadora sneakers do run true to size, but you might consider downsizing half a size if they have a kangaroo leather inner lining, as this can stretch.
