A look at the latest Gorpcore outdoor styles at Foot Locker

Dear community, there are always new trends in the world of sneakers that make the hearts of all of us beat faster. One of these is the 'Gorpcore' trend, which has gained a lot of importance in 2023 and 2024. The term is a fusion of the words 'gorp', which stands for the Wanderer snack 'good old raisins and peanuts', and the word 'core', which characterises this particular life goal.

Today we present you some of the most popular Gorpcore sneakers from Foot Locker and go into more detail about the brands behind them. Let's get started!

HOKA sneakers

The HOKA brand was launched in 2009 in the French Alps, more precisely in Annency, an Alpine town in south-east France. The founders Jean-Luc Diard and Nicolas Mermoud are both athletes who enjoyed running in the mountains, but were unable to find satisfactory running shoes for mountainous terrain. They were not satisfied with their footwear, especially when descending steep slopes - which is why they decided to invent a model themselves.

The brand's trademark: the extremely chunky outsole. In the beginning, the brand was particularly popular with hikers, but the sneaker now absolutely reached street style as well.

Salomon sneakers

Salomon started out in 1957 in a small workshop. The brand initially produced ski boots, but over time the focus shifted to the production of hiking boots. The gorpcore trend then led to the sneakers becoming a new streetwear favourite. Now we see stars like Bella Hadid, Rihanna, Kanye, A$AP Rocky and many more posing with the kicks.

ON Running sneakers

The brand ON was founded by three running enthusiasts, Olivier Bernhard, David Allemann and Caspar Coppetti. What began in 2010 in Zurich, Switzerland, quickly became a success story. The 'On Clouds' running shoes are now sold worldwide. From running shoe to gorpcore trend piece!

Diadora sneakers

Diadora was founded in 1948 in Caerano di San Marco, Italy. In the 1950s, the brand became the Italian market leader in mountain boots, and in the 1960s the company began producing ski boots. When this also became a complete success, Diadora started producing running shoes and tennis sneakers. Since then, the brand has been booming and is firmly anchored in sneaker culture.

HI TEC sneakers

The 'Hi-Tec' brand was founded in the UK in 1974 by Dutchman Frank van Wezel. His first sneaker was a squash shoe, which was the result of numerous complaints from squash players. Later, van Wezel designed the first lightweight hiking shoe, the Sierra sneaker.

Over the years, the brand also secured a sponsorship with Wimbledon and has been characterised by unique designs ever since.

ASICS sneakers

Anima Sana In Corpore Sano- that's what the brand 'ASICS' stands for. The expression comes from the Roman satirist Juvenal and means something like: "One should live for a healthy mind in a healthy body." This is exactly what has characterised the history of ASICS since it was founded in 1949.

The brand is particularly characterised by innovative technologies: For example, ASICS was the first brand with a ventilation system modelled on air-cooled motorbike engines or the famous GEL base with the silicone cushioning material.
