The Air Max 90 was designed in 1990 as a running shoe. Since then, several colorways have been released. The model has been given a larger Air Unit than its predecessor, the Air Max 1. In addition, the outsole has been given the iconic waffle print.

This colorway is called 'Triple Black', with Nike colouring this model completely black. From the upper to the inlay soles, all aspects of this model are black. The difference lies in the use of materials, the overlays come in a combination of suede and leather. In addition, the toe cap is made of nylon.
