The Nike Air Max 1 Premium 'Puerto Rico' was launched in June 2019 to celebrate the annual parade of Puerto Ricans in New York City.
In addition to its asymmetric interpretation of the nation's colors throughout its leather, mesh, and suede upper, the sneakers contrast one with the other, making one mostly blue with red, and the other mostly red with blue.
Spanish phrases are printed on the inner tongue labels, along with patterned laces and an embroidered flag on the heel. Incorporated into the midsole is Max Air cushioning technology that provides both comfort and support. As a final salute to Puerto Rico, the tricolor Waffle outsole is included.
