Patta and Nike are collaborating on a new Air Max 1 called 'The Wave'. The first images of these kicks were released mid-2021. Many sneaker fans were immediately excited when they heard that Patta and Nike joined forces again.
History of Nike and Patta
Patta and Nike are no strangers to each other. Together they have already released a lot of different sneakers, including a number of Air Max 1s. The brand now knows all the details and features of this model.
The first collaboration came out in 2009. In this year, they worked together twice. The first collaboration came about for the fifth anniversary of the Amsterdam brand. Together they released two colorways of the Air Max 1, a green colour scheme and a blue colour scheme.
In 2010, the two brands teamed up with Piet Parra for another Air Max 1. The 'Cherrywood' has different materials on its upper surface.
The last collaboration between the two brands is from 2018. That year, they also released a clothing collection with accessories suitable for Autumn and Winter.
Patta x Nike Air Max 1 'The Wave'
In July 2021, the first images of the Patta x Nike Air Max 1 'The Wave' appeared. The mudguard on the AM1 caught the eye immediately. Instead of a straight line, the mudguard has a wavy top.
The wavy mudguard is orange along with the Swoosh and upper lacing eyelets. The rest of the upper is white with light grey. The midsole is yellowed which gives the sneaker a vintage look. The outsole is divided into three colours, beige, orange and dark brown. This orange colorway is called 'Monarch'.
Two weeks later, images of a new colorway appeared. Instead of orange, blue was used on the upper.
The other colours like white and grey remain the same. The blue colorway is called 'Noise Aqua'.
Sneakerness reveal
In the weekend of 11 and 12 September 2021, Sneakerness took place. This is an event that is all about sneakers. Here you can admire and buy the most exclusive pairs. Besides that, almost all big sneaker fanatics of the Netherlands and Belgium are present at the event.
Edson Sabajo, one of the founders of Patta, was there. The kicks you wear to Sneakerness are very important because everyone is looking at your feet. Edson knew that. So, he wore the Patta x Nike Air Max 1 'The Wave'. For the first time this model was worn in real life and the audience got to admire the upcoming release.
Short film 'The Wave'
At the beginning of September 2021, Patta's Instagram account announced that a movie had been made for the 'The Wave' collaboration between Nike and the Amsterdam brand through a movie poster.
On the poster we already saw big names such as Little Simz and Skepta.
Later, on September 11 2021, Patta placed the short film on IGTV. The video features the orange colorway of the Air Max 1. The main character is played by Abdul Sessay.
The film is about the choice between living the way others want you to live or living how you want to live.
This is called 'the cycle' and 'the wave'.
