Update on 19 December 2024 - Nike is bringing back another retro sneaker model, this time it is the Air Zoom Spiridon, dear community. In June 2024, the sneaker was shown at the SNKRS Showcase in the 1997 OG colorway. Especially for the holidays, Nike is bringing back the ‘Sport Red’ colorway, as well as a Fragment Design collab that dropped earlier this month.
The Nike Zoom Spiridon is a true cult classic. Unveiled in 1997, the model was progressive in its looks and technologies. The silhouette is named after Spiridon Louis, a Greek athlete who won the first Olympic marathon in 1896. The silhouette's name does justice to the design of this sporty model.
More than eight years later, the colorway now returns to the market. The Nike Air Zoom Spiridon ‘Sport Red’ will be released on 20 December 2024 at Nike and selected retailers. Check out the official images and more info below, and keep an eye on the Sneakerjagers release calendar for any updates.
The Nike Air Zoom Spiridon ‘Sport Red’ is back with a vengeance

The Nike Air Zoom Spiridon is one of those models that evokes nostalgic excitement in the sneaker world. Not surprisingly, even Travis Scott was inspired by this iconic model and created his own version, the Nike Sharkidon. Designed by Christian Tresser, the Spiridon made its debut in 1997. And now, in 2024, this model is about to return after a few years of absence.
2016 marked the last release of the Nike Air Zoom Spiridon ‘Sport Red’. Now, this iconic running shoe is about to return in its classic ‘Sport Red’ livery. A standout feature of the silhouette is the Zoom Air cushioning technology, which provides a responsive and resilient feel with every step. In addition, the upper is made of mesh and comes in a grey colorway.
The upper features striking red mini Swooshes and metallic Swooshes, which add a touch of flair to the timeless design of the shoe.
Unfortunately, the exact release date for the return of this silhouette is not yet known. However, it is expected to drop around the 2024 holiday season at Nike and selected retailers. Stay tuned for updates by visiting the Sneakerjagers news page regularly!
