Art to Wear. The Dutch Van Gogh Museum is collaborating for the first time with A Bathing Ape, better known as BAPE. The Japanese streetwear brand, famous for its iconic ABC-Camo, merges its distinctive style with the works of old master Vincent van Gogh.
The collection includes hoodies, T-shirts, and posters that spotlight Van Gogh's most famous paintings.
Tribute to Van Gogh
One of the Netherlands' greatest masters is getting his own BAPE collection. The line pays tribute to some of Van Gogh’s most important works, including Self-Portrait (1887), The Yellow House (1888), Sunflowers (1889), Almond Blossom (1890), and Wheatfield with Crows (1890). The paintings are seamlessly integrated into BAPE’s recognizable designs.
The result is striking. Van Gogh’s bold brushstrokes blend with BAPE’s ABC-Camo prints. Baby Milo also appears in the collection, sleeping on the classic artworks.
The 'APE HEAD' serves as a canvas for T-shirts featuring the paintings. The iconic Shark Hoodie – with a fully zippered hood – receives an 'OIL PAINTING CAMO' print: a fusion of BAPE’s and Van Gogh’s signature styles. Additionally, quotes from Van Gogh’s letters to his brother Theo are incorporated into the collection.
