adidas SPZL is back for Fall/Winter 2026. The new collection lands on Friday 6 November, with Gary Aspden's line digging back into the Three Stripes archive for six pairs of sneakers across five models, plus a twelve-piece apparel range. The adidas SPZL Fall/Winter 2026 drop brings suede, leather, gum soles and one hybrid hiking shoe that clearly stands apart from the rest.

That pair is the Wetherlam SPZL in Sand Green (KK0721). Retailers describe it as a hybrid hiker, and you can see why straight away in the chunky lugged outsole and the sturdy metal eyelets. The upper mixes suede and textile, with Utility Black and Mesa accents breaking up the pale green.
Under the hood sits Aditex, the adidas technology designed to make the shoe waterproof and breathable. Subtle 'aditex' lettering on the side panel gives it away. The midsole stacks brown and mustard-yellow layers. The Wetherlam is billed as an updated version of the Helvellyn SPZL and, like that shoe, takes its name from a fell in England's Lake District. Price: €180.
If you prefer something more classic, look at the Halewood SPZL in Rustic Orange (KK0722). Spezial branding sits on the tongue, the side and the heel, and a brown gum sole calms down all that orange. This one costs €130.

The Hawaii SPZL comes in two colorways: Shadow Brown (KK0725) and Collegiate Green (KK0726). Both pairs are done tonally in suede and sit on a gum sole. On the green version, the off-white stripes and heel tab stand out. The brown pair carries a gold label with the Trefoil logo on the tongue. Both cost €120.

The Albrecht II SPZL in Dusky Bronze (KK0724) is made from brown leather with a moccasin toe. The first Albrecht was a rework of the little-known Sevilla, set on the sole of the Gazelle OG. Two extra pairs of laces come in the box. Price: €140.

Then there is the Boston II Outdoor SPZL in Utility Black (KK0723). Textile with smooth leather overlays, Wonder White accents and a treaded rubber outsole. The original Boston SPZL appeared in 2014 and borrowed its sole from the ZX710. This one also costs €140.

Lined up side by side, earth tones, gum soles and tonal uppers run like a common thread through the line-up. The black Boston is the only real exception.
Twelve years of SPZL
adidas Spezial, or SPZL for short, started in 2014 as a passion project for Gary Aspden. He was initially given a two-season contract to test how people would respond. Today SPZL is an established sub-label of adidas Originals, with two collections a year.
Aspden hails from Darwen in Lancashire. He worked at adidas for years, including as Global Head of Entertainment Marketing, and is now tied to the brand as a consultant. He prefers to call himself a curator rather than a designer. His motto: "we glance at the past without staring at it". Starting from his own archive of vintage adidas, he brings forgotten models back in a contemporary form.
The line's roots lie in British terrace and casual culture, when football fans in the 70s and 80s headed to matches in European adidas models. Aspden deliberately looks to Europe rather than the US. You can see that in the names too: SPZL likes to name products after places in the North of England. This collection reads like a map of the North as well, with names such as Slaidburn, Baxenden and Loughrigg.
Over the years, SPZL has worked with the likes of C.P. Company and Liam Gallagher. In 2019, Aspden showed more than 1200 rare pairs at an exhibition in Blackburn, and in May 2024 he marked ten years of Spezial with the DECADE exhibition in his hometown of Darwen.
The apparel in this collection

The apparel line within the adidas SPZL Fall/Winter 2026 collection draws on designs from the 70s and 80s. Riders from the adidas skate team front the campaign. Green, blue and brown dominate: the same colours you see on the sneakers.
The heaviest piece is the green Springvale SPZL Parka at €400. Alongside it come the Eccleshill SPZL Smock with half zip in green and brown at €280, the blue Baxenden SPZL Hood at €300 and the green Cardington SPZL Gilet at €230.

For the layers underneath, there are the blue Turncroft SPZL Track Top and the Hartshill SPZL Knit, both €150. The Bellshill SPZL Fleece also costs €150, the Slaidburn SPZL Polo €130 and the green Loughrigg Trouser €180. Two T-shirts at €60 each complete the line.

According to a UK retailer's size guide, the parka and the Loughrigg Trouser fit loose, so you might consider sizing down there. The track top, polo and knit fit regular. No specific sizing advice has been shared for the sneakers yet.
The adidas SPZL Fall/Winter 2026 collection is available from 6 November online at adidas and at select retailers. Set your sights on the green Hawaii SPZL? You'll find it there too.
