Power Up: Nike and One Piece Team Up for Extensive Collection

It's official: Nike is teaming up with the iconic manga franchise One Piece for an extensive collection. The drop includes three unique Air Max Plus colorways, accessories and a clothing line. The collaboration is best described as a fusion of elite sport and global pop culture, designed to reflect the transformative rush athletes feel when they step onto the field or track in their Nike gear.

One Piece x Nike: Unleashing supernatural powers

For anyone unfamiliar with the series: One Piece is a record-breaking Japanese manga and anime series following the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat Pirates. Together they cross the ocean in search of the ultimate treasure to claim the title of 'Pirate King'. In September 2026, Nike brings this world to life with a special capsule.

The designs are directly inspired by the series' mystical Devil Fruits, which grant supernatural powers to those who eat them.

Devil Fruits on the Air Max Plus

The highlight of this release consists of three unique versions of the Nike Air Max Plus. Each pair features a completely redesigned, custom-built upper developed specifically for this collaboration.

Rather than simple colour adjustments, the silhouettes pay tribute to three pivotal Devil Fruits from the storyline:

  • Gomu Gomu no Mi: Reflects the rubber-like elasticity of protagonist Monkey D. Luffy.

(Global Release)

  • Ope Ope no Mi: Inspired by the spatial manipulation powers of Trafalgar Law.

(Special release: more info below)

  • Mera Mera no Mi: Captures the fiery aesthetic of Portgas D. Ace and Sabo.

Nick Remlinger, General Manager Energy Gaming at Nike, explains:

We drew inspiration from the supernatural powers unleashed when One Piece characters eat a Devil Fruit – very similar to the feeling an athlete gets when lacing up a pair of Nikes. From there, we redesigned the beloved Air Max Plus in a way fans of the silhouette have never seen before.

Exclusive clothing line

Alongside the sneakers, an extensive clothing collection arrives that seamlessly connects Nike's heritage with the universe of creator Eiichiro Oda. The line includes co-branded jerseys and caps pulled straight from Nike's archives.

The collection also includes graphic T-shirts that combine manga panels with retro Nike ads. Check the photos below this article for all the details.

A standout piece within the clothing line is a utility vest inspired by the myth surrounding the Devil Fruits. The garment nods subtly to the series' curse, which makes those who eat the fruits 'hated by the sea', stripping them of their ability to swim.

Where can I buy the Nike x One Piece collection?

The release of the Nike x One Piece collection follows a distinctive, phased rollout. The global launch actually begins with exclusive pop-up experiences before the official digital drop takes place.

The collection makes its exclusive debut from September 4 to 6 at a special pop-up event in Tokyo. This is followed on September 12 by retail activations at selected global hubs, including HBX Hong Kong, Nike Lab PS7, Invincible in Jakarta, Lust in Mexico City and Worksout in Seoul.

European boutiques and retailers then receive their stock on September 19. Participating retailers include Patta in Amsterdam, Offspring in London, SNS in Stockholm, Footdistrict in Madrid and AFEW in Düsseldorf.

Finally, the entire collection launches digitally worldwide on September 25 via the Nike SNKRS app.

Note: not all colorways are dropping in Europe. Right now we're only expecting the 'Gomu Gomu' colorway plus selected apparel pieces at Nike and other retailers. The 'Ope Ope' is expected to drop here too, at select retailers on September 19, 2026. The 'Mera Mera', however, is not dropping in Europe!
