After the New Balance 1906L, the adidas Ballet Taekwondo, the Converse All-Star Coinloafer, the PUMA Speedcat Ballet, and many others, Nike is now also joining the lineup by unveiling its own sneaker-loafer hybrid. The Nike Air Max Phenomena features the sole of the Air Max SNDR combined with an upper inspired by the classic penny loafer.
The Nike Air Max Phenomena, teased by atmos creative lead Hirofumi Kojima, boasts a striking design. The concept comes from Nike’s Serena Williams Design Crew, a team of creatives and designers responsible for various high-profile sneaker releases.
The Air Max Phenomena joins this growing list. The design features a premium leather upper, complete with a pull tab and a silver Swoosh. Its Air Max SNDR sole—known for its multiple Air units—provides cushioning and comfort, giving the sneaker (or rather, loafer) a dynamic look.
The Air Max Phenomena signals Nike’s renewed focus on innovation, especially with a new head leading the innovation team. However, whether this model is strong enough to lead the loafer trend remains up for debate.
For now, Nike hasn’t announced an official release date. However, the silhouette is expected to drop in 2025. Keep an eye on the Sneakerjagers release calendar for updates.
