The Real Madrid Y-3 dragon shirt is back. Real Madrid and adidas are reissuing the third kit from the 2014/15 season, designed by Yohji Yamamoto. Since 5 November, the Real Madrid Y-3 dragon shirt has been available, together with a matching track jacket and track pants.

For the club, the design was its very first collaboration with Y-3, the label Yamamoto has run together with adidas for more than twenty years. adidas unveiled the shirt at the end of August 2014, a few months after Real Madrid had won the Champions League. The shirt was intended for that season's Champions League matches.
Yamamoto opted for black, his signature colour. No classic white or purple, but a dark base with an Eastern-inspired dragon as a watermark. The Japanese designer painted the artwork himself on canvas before it found its way onto the shirt.
The original was built with adidas' adizero technology. In Japan, a limited Y-3 version of 1,400 numbered pieces also appeared, featuring Yamamoto's signature and a handmade box. At the time, adidas also released an adizero F50 football boot in a Yamamoto design.
Two dragons on the chest
Twelve years later, the design gets a second life, this time as a four-piece collection. The reissue revolves entirely around the graphic. On the front, two mythical creatures wind around each other: a dragon king that, according to the club, stands for prestige, and a bird dragon symbolising agility and the will to win.
adidas itself links the dragon to greatness and courage. A white collar and white adidas stripes complete the contrast.

You can choose between two versions. The short-sleeve replica (€110) is made from interlock fabric. Looking for the player version? Then go for the long-sleeve authentic shirt (€160) with a slimmer fit. adidas describes it as a lighter version of the match shirt.

A black track jacket with a full-length zip (€120) and track pants with a drawcord (€100) complete the line-up. Both have a regular fit and are made from soft jersey fabric. Thanks to the zip, the jacket is easy to layer, while the drawcord lets you adjust the pants.
All four pieces come in black, so you can also wear them as a complete set.

The Real Madrid Y-3 dragon shirt and the rest of the collection are available via adidas, in selected adidas stores and in Real Madrid Stores. Whether the team will also wear the shirt in a match has not been announced.
