New Balance is getting the 2000 ready for autumn. The New Balance 2000L Thunder Brown drops on 1 October 2026 and swaps the original's layered synthetic look for leather panels. That makes the New Balance 2000L Thunder Brown a lot more classic than its siblings.

The silhouette stays familiar. You get the same chunky build with ABZORB SBS cushioning in the midsole, the cushioning technology New Balance introduced the 2000 with last year. The leather gives the upper a calmer, fuller look. The colours stay close together: deep browns from top to bottom, topped off with a dark Pumpernickel shade. No loud accents, just plenty of depth from the different panels.

Right now, heading into autumn, it's a great move by New Balance to offer the popular model in sturdy leather too!
With the New Balance 2000L Thunder Brown, the brand shows the 2000 can go in more than one direction. The standard version leans on sleek synthetic layers and Y2K influences. This variant speaks to people who prefer a toned-down, timeless sneaker.
Prefer something lighter? There's an alternative. The regular 2000 in 'Horizon Grey/Truffle Salt' arrives the same day. It pairs light grey and off-white with warm truffle tones and sticks to the familiar mix of textile and synthetic overlays. So this release gives you a choice between dark and light.
