It was perhaps one of the most striking collabs of 2024: Miu Miu and New Balance. After the release of the 530 with the distressed upper, the Mule version of the silhouette followed. This model, completely heel-less, was ahead of its time and fit perfectly within the loafer and dress-shoe trend, which in 2025 is bigger than ever.
A follow-up to the collaboration is therefore great news for many – myself included. However, it seems this might not actually be a real New Balance collab?
Miu Miu's own sneaker
Miu Miu, Prada's subsidiary, has had a few successful years. In 2024, the label was named the “Hottest Brand” by the Lyst Index, thanks in part to their viral bead-embellished jackets. The New Balance 530 likely played a role in this as well, being one of the few sneakers to once again reach resell prices in the thousands of dollars.
Miu Miu seems to be building on the success of their sneakers and showcased their own sneaker during their Fall/Winter 2025 runway in Paris, complete with a snakeskin print and all the details. While many initially assumed this would be a New Balance release, it appears to be an independent Miu Miu creation.
The sneaker debuted in two colorways, both featuring a snakeskin print—fitting for the Year of the Snake. The release date for these sneakers is still unknown. Whether another New Balance collaboration is on the way remains to be seen.
