Update March 3, 2026 – It’s finally here. The next 'Wave' release, arriving in a vibrant 'Hyper Crimson' colorway, is dropping this weekend. This release celebrates the 5th anniversary of the 'Wave', which first launched in 2021, also in an orange colorway.
Since the first 'Wave' release, numerous colorways have followed, along with an Air Max 90 iteration. What started in 2021 as a fresh reinterpretation of a classic has grown into a staple within the Air Max 1 lineage.
With its signature wavy mudguard, the series introduced not only a refreshed design but also a story about continuity, culture, and community.
'Hyper Crimson'
For this anniversary edition, the duo returns to its roots with the Air Max 1. The 'Hyper Crimson' colorway features the same color blocking as the 'Monarch', the first orange release from the collaboration, but opts for a striking orange hue and glossy leather on the mudguard.
The visible Air unit and classic rubber outsole stay true to the silhouette’s performance DNA. The bold orange color subtly references Patta’s home base of Amsterdam.
Roots once again take center stage. Each pair comes with a velvet pouch, including a bracelet featuring the Surinamese flag. Alongside the sneaker, Patta is also dropping a matching satin bomber jacket and T-shirt, both of which will be available at Patta.
Release
The collaboration drops on Friday, March 6, 2026, exclusively at Patta at exactly 1:00 PM. Looking at previous ‘Wave’ releases, particularly the Air Max 1 editions, it’s expected to be very busy again, so be prepared.

Original post January 14, 2026 - It might be the most striking collaboration on the Nike Air Max 1: the 'Waves' with Amsterdam’s Patta. First released in 2021 in the iconic 'Monarch' colorway, the sneaker drew a lot of attention thanks to its unique, wavy mudguard.
After six previous colorways and a recent expansion of the wavy mudguard to the Air Max 90, two new colorways have now surfaced, teased by Patta themselves.
Edson Sabajo, co-founder of Patta, recently shared the first images of a bright orange Air Max 1. His cryptic caption, “A little birdie told me something is gonna pop out on my B-day,” hints that the sneaker could drop on March 8, 2026, Edson’s birthday.
Shortly after, Guillaume Schmidt posted a second colorway, where the bright orange only appears on the Swoosh and laces. With the text “5 years of waviness,” it seems to be an anniversary edition of the original 'Waves' pack.
Whether both colorways will actually release on March 8, 2026, hasn’t been confirmed. The striking orange color could also suggest a King’s Day release in April, or even a special edition for the World Cup this summer.
