Jordan Brand is honouring the legacy of the Flight Club with a special release: the Air Jordan 4 ‘Flight Club’, dropping on Saturday, January 17th, 2026. But what is the story here?
The Story Behind the Flight Club: Back in 1989, being part of the inner circle for Air Jordan releases meant joining the Air Jordan Flight Club. This was a physical fan organisation and the go-to way to get the latest news on Michael Jordan’s sneakers. Members received newsletters, posters, and exclusive gear. All original fan perks that are now highly sought after on the vintage market.
Members would find a membership card inside their shoebox, mail it in, and in return receive newsletters, a physical membership card, and exclusive merchandise.
The AJ4 Flight Club 2026 Design

This Air Jordan 4 Flight Club release celebrates now that history with thoughtful details. The usual ‘Flight’ script on the tongue is replaced with ‘Flight Club’ branding, and the insoles feature graphics taken directly from the original 1980s newsletters.
The silhouette uses the same color blocking as the ‘Military Black’ AJ4, but the upper is made from premium, creamy ‘Sail’ leather, giving it a vintage, straight-out-of-the-box look. A key detail for collectors: the heel tab has the classic “Nike Air” branding outlined subtly in red.
