Is the Parra x Patta x Nike Air Max 1 'Cherrywood' THE Holy Grail?

As you may have already noticed, we have launched our "10 Days of Air Max" to coincide with Air Max Month! For 10 days, you'll have the chance to take a trip down memory lane with us and win some cool prizes. We'll introduce you to some of the most important Nike Air Max sneakers and collaborations of the last decades and show you what's behind the designs of these iconic sneakers! And without further ado, let's move on to the next highlight and a collaboration that went down in history: Parra x Patta x Nike Air Max 1 'Cherrywood'! 🍒

Parra & Patta - Amsterdam's Finest

Let's start by showing those of you who are completely new to this collaboration what's behind these two names. In any case, I can already tell you that these two and Nike are anything but strangers to each other. Because both Parra and Patta have already had the opportunity to create several designs for the famous sportswear brand. But one thing at a time. A short introduction of the two:

Parra

Parra is not a brand or a shop in the first sense, as is the case with many collabos. Behind this name is a man, his art and his passion for streetwear and sneakers. Piet Parra was born in the Netherlands and, in addition to his memorable and unique canvas art, he also convinces with many designs on clothes or shoes. His very first sneaker collaboration was with Nike in 2005 for the Parra x Nike Air Max 1 'Amsterdam'. From then on, many more followed!

Patta

This name might be familiar to a few more of you. Patta is basically a sneaker boutique in the heart of Amsterdam. Since its first opening in 2004, the store has been making new impressions in the sneaker and streetwear game in the Amsterdam scene.

This is not least due to the fact that the two founders Edson Sabajo and Guillaume Schmidt were not unknown personalities in the hip-hop scene in the 90s. In the meantime Patta also two other stores in London and Milan.

I don't think we need to tell you about collaborations with Nike here. There are so many! Especially on the Air Max 1, the Patta x Nike collabs went through the roof. But only one sneaker is still one that people would say is their "Holy Grail":

The Parra x Patta x Nike Air Max 1 'Cherrywood'

BOOM! What a stunning pair of sneakers! 😍 Do you think so too?

The legendary Parra x Patta x Nike Air Max 1 was released in 2010. The beautiful pair celebrated the 5th Anniversary of Patta's first store in Amsterdam this year and the year before, among other Patta x Nike collabos. Along with a total of four Patta x Nike Air Max 1's, the sneaker boutique brought in their close friend and Dutch artist/designer Parra as the final blow! Together, the two artists would create an unforgettable design on the Nike Air Max 1.

On release day on 13 March 2010, one thing was clear: the kicks were extremely hard to get! Because the Parra x Patta x Nike Air Max 1 'Cherrywood' was limited to 300 pairs worldwide! So it's no wonder that this pair of sneakers is number one for most sneakerheads (and Air Max lovers anyway) when it comes to the "Holy Grail" or the pair you desperately want to have but don't own. It's also getting harder and harder, because the resell value keeps rising and is now a whopping 3,000 to 10,000 euros! 😱

Let's take a closer look at the beautiful Air Max. The sneaker has been given an upper that comes completely in a burgundy colour. A white midsole, sockliner and laces in white round off the colour blocking.

But what really counts here are the details! As you can see in the picture above, the sneaker has been given contrasting and colourful accents. Especially the light blue colour that can be found on the lacetips and on the Parra logo on the tongue is something very special. It is reflected in many of Parra's designs and is one of its signature colours.

Another highlight is the insole, on which one of Piet Parra's characters has been placed and around which the other 2 artists have been immortalised with lettering.
