The PUMA Suede was introduced in the 1970s as the successor to the PUMA Crack, a leather silhouette that was released in 1968. In 1971, PUMA signed basketball player Walt 'Clyde' Frazier, who was playing for the New York Knicks at the time. Together with the basketball player, PUMA released the Suede.
