Nike is pulling one of its most unusual models out of the archive: the Nike Ovolo 2.0. The heeled sneaker from the mid-2000s is getting a new version, expected to arrive around the 2026 holiday season. Here's everything we know about the Nike Ovolo 2.0 so far.

The original Ovolo appeared in 2004 and 2005 and stood out from the rest of the line-up right away. The model borrowed a lot from the Nike Shox R4 from 2000, the brand's very first Shox sneaker. Think of the squared-off end of the tongue and the thin, perforated section at the front of the toe box. Only this upper didn't sit on a flat sole, but on a raised heel. Sporty and dressy at the same time.
That made the Ovolo an outsider back then. Where the Shox line was all about visible cushioning and a technical look, the Ovolo used the same design language for a shoe you'd rather wear on a night out than on a treadmill. A model you remember precisely because it didn't fit anywhere else.
The crossover between sneaker and heel feels less strange now than it did twenty years ago. Martine Rose already showed with her Shox R4 Mule that the Shox aesthetic translates well into something you wouldn't expect at the gym. Nike bringing back the Ovolo shows the brand is digging deeper into its archive than just the well-known classics.
What changes on the 2.0?
Nike has cleaned up the design considerably. The upper is leather and the Swoosh is pressed directly into that leather, rather than sitting as separate pieces on the sides like the original. The heel is more clearly separated from the sole, making the silhouette look lighter and cleaner. You can still see the Shox influence in the shaping, but the recognisable Shox columns themselves are gone.
It's not just about looks, though. According to reports, Nike aims to deliver the same springy feel of Shox cushioning, only through a completely different construction. The tooling also looks glossier, sleeker and sturdier than on the original. Nike itself describes an architectural, Shox-esque lift beneath the 2004 silhouette.

Nike confirms two colorways: Black and Metallic Silver. A focused start, then. The black version keeps things understated, while the silver option ties in with the metallic look that was so typical of the 2000s. According to reports, the Nike Ovolo 2.0 comes in women's sizes only in both versions.

Nike showed the model in its SNKRS Verified lookbook for Holiday '26, but hasn't shared an official release date yet. Reports point to the 2026 holiday season; a confirmed EU date is still missing. The retail price in euros isn't known yet either, nor are the style codes of both colorways. How high the heel will be hasn't been communicated.
