[Update: July 13, 2020] Sean Wotherspoon x Nike Air Max 97/1 2020?!? Are we finally getting a new colorway from Sean Wotherspoon on the coveted Air Max 97/1 hybrid?
Actually, after the first release 2 years ago, we were all just waiting for Nike to quickly bring out a second drop of the silhouette. But nothing happened and suddenly there was news that Sean will not work with Nike for a while. For a long time now there are a lot of mock-ups flying around the internet, what an upcoming second collab could look like, if one comes.
But now a completely new "on-hand" picture of a new SW Air Max 97/1 in shades of blue has appeared! Did Sean Wotherspoon collaborate with Nike again or not? And why did he stop working with the Swoosh at all? We'll get you on yo! Stay tuned!
It all started with this picture:
Two extremely beautiful sneakers, where pictures were already published at the end of 2018. These are samples that were supposed to be a second drop of the collaboration of Sean Wotherspoon x Nike. Even a few months after this release it was still not clear if the kickz will be released or will be in these colorways, as samples are often models anyway, which might not be released in the same way.
At the beginning of 2019 Sean declared in an official interview that the sneakers mentioned above were actually a second drop of him and Nike. However, Sean had already made sure that the project with Nike would be put on hold for the time being, as he wanted to "spread his wings". Shortly afterwards he also launched a collab with GUESS. Collaborations with adidas, as well as ASICS, followed.

But now back to the Sean Wotherspoon x Nike Air Max 97/1 2020!
3 days ago the sneaker leak site "cop4resell" posted this picture of a brand new Air Max 97/1:
As we can all see, this mock-up looks like it combines the two samples of Sean friends & family Pairs. The corduroy-upper comes here in different light and dark blue tones and white midsole.
But as you can also see from the caption of "cop4resell", Sean put his collaboration with Nike on hold a long time ago. Therefore we can't expect this shoe in the near future. The caption of the post says that the probability that Sean will release this sneaker is zero. But who knows… Sean himself explicitly said in the above mentioned interview that the project with Nike is on hold "for now". We are looking forward positively and realistically, and we believe that Sean will surely do a second collab with Nike in the next years. After all, the two actors did not split up for the worse.
