Nike and Tom Sachs are ending their long-running collaboration. According to a report from Curbed (2023), the working conditions within the company were concerning. This report came out around the release of the Mars Yard 3.0, which has been postponed for now.
Tom Sachs and Nike go way back. The two names began their collaboration in 2012 and have since worked on various projects together. In 2022, the 'General Purpose Shoe' came to live, a beloved silhouette that has received several colorways in recent months.
Tom Sachs is an artist based in New York. In 2023, a report from Curbed revealed that the working conditions within the company were not optimal and that the work environment even resembled a "cult." The designer was also said to have had anger outbursts that made work difficult for employees in the office.
Nike recently responded to the report from Curbed and announced the cancellation of the release of the Tom Sachs x Nike Mars Yard 3.0. "We are not working with Tom's studio at this time and have no release dates planned," Nike Complex said.
