Earth Day History
Earth Day, also known as the "Day of the Earth," is an event that takes place annually on April 22. The day was created in 1970 following the bestseller Silent Spring by Rachel Carson from 1962. The book by the American writer brought attention to environmental problems and pollution of nature.
Rachel Carson was a biologist and one of the first writers who campaigned for environmental issues. In addition to Silent Spring, she also wrote the books The Sea Around Us, The Sense of Wonder, and Under the Sea Wind. Carson's books brought attention to the global environmental problem, and in 1970, Earth Day was introduced.
Senator Gaylord Nelson, the youngest senator from Wisconsin, had been concerned about the deteriorating environment in the United States for a long time. In 1969, he witnessed the oil spill in Santa Barbara and felt that he needed to take action. He organised guest lectures at universities to create more awareness among young people. The date of April 22 was chosen for this event.

Models such as the Ultraboost, NMD_R1 and 4DFWD have a sustainable production process and are made with recycled materials.
The French brand VEJA is perhaps the most well-known brand when it comes to sustainable sneakers. The models of VEJA are made from vegan leather. The sneakers also use cotton from Brazil and Portugal, which are obtained with respect for the environment and farmers.
