We have another 90s blog for you! This time we tell you about the coolest sneaker placements in the films of the 90s. You might know some of them already, but we hope we can still surprise you with sneaker placements you might have missed.
Often, product placements are done in such a way that the viewer doesn't even realise that they are actually watching a commercial. However, this does not mean that people are not influenced. The following films, too, have brought about big changes and new hypes in the sneaker world!
We have also tried to find the sneaker from the films, or comparable sneakers, for you, so that you can buy them immediately if you were as inspired as all the other people in the 90s!
Forrest Gump (1994)
We start with one of the most famous sneaker placements, namely the one made by Nike in the 1994 film Forrest Gump. In this film, the main character Forrest Gump, played by Tom Hanks, is given a pair of white and red Nike Cortez sneakers. After a broken heart, caused by love interest Jenny, Forrest decides to run through the United States for three years. And of course he does this in the Nike Cortez sneakers! You can't get better advertising than this message: 'You can keep running for three years with these sneakers'.

Batman Returns (1992)
Batman is of course best known for his cool black gear, which he uses to fight crime. However, what many people do not know, or expect, is that Batman's shoes in the movie Batman Returns (1992) are actually Nike Air Jordan VI sneakers. They were created through a cool collaboration between Nike and Warner Bros.
Back to the Future II (1989)
Anyone who has seen Back to the Future II (1989) will remember these sneakers. In the cult film, these shoes play a major role. They are worn by the main character Marty, and in the film, the laces of these sneakers can also tie themselves. Their futuristic look attracted a lot of attention, and had a great influence on new sneaker trends. These shoes are also for sale but, don't be alarmed, they are going for thousands of euros. In 2011, they were launched with a limited edition of 1500 pieces.
George of the Jungle (1997)
Nike may not have been very subtle with its ad of the Nike Air More Uptempo in George of the Jungle (1997), but this sneaker placement nevertheless had the effect Nike wanted: sales went sky-high. Maybe it was also because they did not care about the fact that they were advertising, that people could also see the fun in it, and they found it fun rather than annoying. The moment when George opens the box, which looks more like a commercial than a film scene, can be seen in the video below from 00:24:
Space Jam 1 (1996)
The film Space Jam contains several Jordan cameos, including from the IX and the X, but the most famous are the Air Jordan XI "Space Jam". Michael Jordan himself wore these sneakers in the film, which is why the shoes have become widely known and coveted. After the film, this sneaker has had other releases, but the "Space Jam" silhouette is still one of the most coveted XI models.
The Basketball Diaries (1995)
The Basketball Diaries (1995) was a drama film, starring none other than Leonardo Di Caprio. He was often seen with Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Core Hi sneakers on his feet. And since it wasn't (and still isn't) necessarily wrong to look like Caprio, the shoes have served as a fantastic advertising opportunity for these timeless classics.
Robin Hood: Men In Tights (1993)
Robin Hood: Men In Tights (1993) is probably not the film in which you would expect a sneaker placement. But they did it anyway, and did it well! In the clip below, you can see how they brilliantly use the Reebok Pump Omni Zone in the film.
