Concepts x New Balance

Concepts reunites with New Balance. The Boston-based sneaker boutique opened its doors in 1996 and has been part of the sneaker scene ever since. The name has had past collaborations with Nike, adidas, ASICS and so has New Balance.

In 2013, Concepts and New Balance came up with the 998 model in a 'C-Note' colorway. The sneaker took inspiration from the new $100 bill introduced in 2013. According to Deon Point, Concepts' creative director, the design is all-encompassing: "Money talks, if there's one thing that hasn't changed in the last 10 years, it's that. The C-Note represents all of us, it's the universal language of exchange. Whether you are old money or new money, you can identify with it."

The 2013 collab is still considered one of Concepts' most successful collaborations. The boutique is bringing back the sneaker, especially for the 10th anniversary of the 'C-Note' colorway. The pair stays close to its predecessor and shares the same colors. One obvious difference is the Concepts' logo on the updated model. The New Balance 998 model has also been updated.

The sneaker has a beige upper that uses the materials mesh, suede, and TPU. 3M details are placed on the toecap and heel; these light up when shined on. Brandings from both labels appear on the tongue, heel and the center panel. The tongue is made of chunky suede and has a soft feel, as does the element on the heel. An eye-catching detail is the blue element on the midsole.

The Concepts x New Balance 998 Made in USA 'C-Note' comes in a special custom box. The sneaker also comes with two extra pairs of laces. Check out the official images of the sneaker below. The pair will be dropped on October 17, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at New Balance. The sneaker has a retail price of €250.
