Concepts X ASICS are at it again, dear community. The new Concepts x ASICS collaboration is inspired by Japanese food culture. The collection consists of a design on the GEL-LYTE III and a range of apparel. With this collaboration, Concepts and ASICS show their love for Japanese sashimi art, especially tuna.

Sneakers and sashimi don't seem to have much in common at first glance. But Concepts and ASICS are changing all that. The brands have created a design on the popular GEL-LYTE III model by ASICS and Japanese tuna, also known as bluefin tuna, was the inspiration for the sneaker in this collection.
The belly fat of this type of tuna is called "otoro" in Japan. This part of the fish has been extremely popular in the culinary world for several years. The otoro of bluefin tuna is particularly special and in Michelin-starred restaurants it is often the basis for premium sashimi.
The GEL-LYTE III in the Otoro look of the collection is completely in different shades of pink, which refers to the pink colour of the Otoro. The material used for the upper is full suede, which gives the sneaker a soft look. The shoe also has a few eye-catching details. There are reflective elements that are meant to remind us of special sushi knives. These Japanese knives are popular worldwide and are considered some of the best knives in the world.
The sneaker also comes with a light green set of laces. This colour represents wasabi, which many like to eat with sashimi and sushi. Finally, the Concepts logo is placed on the heel and the insoles have unique graphics that refer to bluefin tuna and Japanese art.

The Concepts x ASICS Gel-Lyte III 'Otoro' and accompanying 'Four Days' collection are already out at Concepts and will hit shelves at more retailers on Friday 25 June 2021 at 09:00. Some Raffles are also open. Cost of the sneakers: €130.
'Four Days' Apparel
So in addition to the shoe, there is also a complete clothing collection called "Four Days". This name stands for the preparation method used in the preparation of tuna. This special method is also called "Shibi". It is a process in which the tuna is left in the ground for four days.
In the collection you will find different items like: Hoodies, jumpers, t-shirts, sweatpants, shorts, socks and a bucket hat. The designs of these items are also inspired by tuna, wasabi and the knife used by Japanese chefs.
Of course, Concepts has also put their own stamp on the collection by making each piece in their own style. The brand's clothing often has an oversized fit that gives it a 90s skate style.
Materials like nylon and mesh are used in the shorts for extra flexibility. A nice detail is also the tuna that is printed on the shirts and shorts.
