In 2022, the Cortez will have been around for 50 years and Nike is not going to let that go unnoticed. The model has been involved in many historical moments over the years. The model is for example known as the running shoe with which Forrest Gump ran through the United States and was one of Nikes first shoe designs ever.
The Swoosh and Sacai celebrate the anniversary of this iconic model with a new colorway of the Cortez 4.0. This sneaker has been given a makeover in the style of the previous Sacai x Nike collabs. This is especially evident in the double tongue, lining and overlays at the heel.
Different shades of grey are combined on the upper. The base is lined in nylon that turns grey. On the middle panel is a white leather Swoosh with a print of a black Swoosh on top. The nose and eyestays are made of suede that colours grey. On the heel are double suede panels, one white and one grey.
The collar of this pair is double, adding an extra piece of tongue, lining and heel tab in a lighter shade of grey. The Cortez 4.0 also features an upgraded midsole. The midsole is grey and off-white and features a dampening Zoom Air bubble. A black outsole completes the design.
