Nike Dunk 'Syracuse' gets a cracked leather makeover

The Swoosh Brand is continuing with revisiting iconic models of the last decades with the 'Reimagined' series. Nike is now getting ready to bring back the Nike Dunk Low 'Syracuse' design. The classic colorway from the 'Be True To Your School' offering comes in the two-tone sporty look with cracked leather.

The history of the 'Syracuse'

Standing on decades of history and iconic silhouettes, the Nike Dunk has come a long way. The first-ever Nike Dunk release dates back to 1985. A time when Jordan was getting ready to take on its second year in the NBA, Coca Cola introduced New Coke and Madonna's "Like a Virgin" was playing on the radio.

In that year, Nike struck a deal with multiple university's to make the Dunk High their teams original shoe. The sneaker came in the colors scheme of every single University. The Nike Dunk High 'Syracuse' would be the teams shoe of Syracuse University. This would be a huge success and birthed some of the most recognizable and iconic Dunk styles of all time.

Decades have passed. Jordan is no longer in the NBA, New Coke is a thing of the past, and Madonna's 'Like a Virgin' is now a vintage song. Yet, to this day, Dunks remain incredibly popular in pop culture and loved by the sneaker community.

The Nike Dunk Syracuse colorway has already made a comeback several times in recent years, 2020-2022, both on the Dunk High and the Dunk Low Silhouette and also on some Jordan models.

2023 release

Decades after its first release Nike is bringing back the iconic colorway for a reworked cracked leather Dunk Low edition. The upper comes in a 'Sail' colored tumbled leather paired with orange cracked leather overlays. Additional detailing includes: matching 'Sail' mesh tongues, orange laces, sockliners, printed insoles and 'Nike' embroidered at the rear end of the sneaker. To top it all off does the Nike Dunk Low 'Syracuse' have a 'Sail' midsole with a orange rubber outsole accompanying it.

No official release date is there yet, but the Nike Dunk Low 'Syracuse' is expected to be releasing in the upcoming weeks. Take a look at the sneaker down below. If you want to stay up to date with this release and other make sure to keep an eye out on our news page.
