Nike launches a new version of the Air Max 1 in a striking color combination of black, grey, and bright yellow. The palette immediately evokes associations with the dark atmosphere of Gotham City and the Batman universe, no doubt fuelled in part by the ongoing success of the Air Max 95 ‘Batman', which unexpectedly became one of the hits of summer 2025.
The sneaker base is made of black mesh, with grey suede overlays and a yellow leather mudguard. The brightly coloured Swoosh and details on the outsole reinforce the link with the Bat symbol.
The classic Air Max 1 construction remains intact, with a visible Air unit in the heel and a rubber sole for grip and cushioning. The design is not a direct collaboration with a franchise, but the colour scheme clearly references Batman.
In particular, the use of black with bright yellow accents is reminiscent of the Bat-signal and the atmosphere of Gotham City. The Air Max 1, designed by Tinker Hatfield, remains a canvas for pop culture themes.
Release
With this new release, Nike continues the Gotham theme on one of its most popular models. The Nike Air Max 1 ‘Batman' is expected in autumn 2025. The sneaker will be available through Nike and selected retailers.
