Just days after early images surfaced online, New Balance has confirmed the release of its brand new silhouette, the ABZORB 2000, set to debut in a 'Baby Blue' colorway.
Unlike anything else in the current New Balance lineup, the ABZORB 2000 blends high-performance heritage with experimental design. It channels the energy of the early 2000s 'blobject' aesthetics of glossy tech gadgets, translucent plastics and rounded forms.
While the sneaker nods to the brand’s archival-tech runners, this is no ordinary throwback. Instead, it envisions a future where New Balance never paused its ABZORB SBS cushioning technology. A midsole that feels as much like industrial design as it does running gear.
The upper features a no-sew mesh construction with layered screen-printed overlays. The oversized midsole unit is the standout, designed entirely in virtual reality by Charlotte Lee, the same creative behind the 1906L and 327. It’s the first New Balance model fully sculpted in 3D from start to finish.
Despite its layered look, the ‘Baby Blue’ colorway keeps things balanced, combining icy mesh with tonal blues and soft grey accents. The signature 'N' logo hits the side as expected, but the shape and structure mark a clear step forward for the brand’s lifestyle category.
Release
