In 2025, All Ayes Are on the adidas Superstar

So are those of Samuel L. Jackson, Missy Elliott, Teezo Touchdown, GloRilla, and JENNIE. Following the viral adidas Originals video featuring actor Jackson in the Superstar, new familiar faces have appeared this week in campaigns that spotlight the Superstar.

The campaign features A-listers such as Mark Gonzales, Anthony Edwards, Gabbriette, and the creatives above, each offering their own interpretation of the Superstar. The theme "Clocks" takes center stage in the campaign, reflecting the timeless DNA of the sneaker.

Former BLACKPINK member JENNIE is seen wearing black-and-white Superstars and closes the campaign with a powerful message—voiced by Jackson—about the difference between fleeting trends and timeless classics.

The clip highlights the connection between hip-hop culture and the adidas Superstar, a link that has been evident since the very first Superstar releases—think, for example, of the RUN D.M.C. collaborations.

With several more adidas Superstar releases on the horizon, it's the classic colorways that do it for me. And I'm not the only one.

When was the adidas Superstar released?

The first Superstar was released in 1969 as a basketball shoe. Now, several decades later, the sneaker remains a beloved silhouette for many—both on and off the basketball court.
