The Air Jordan 11 is one of the most extraordinary sneakers in the history of the Jordan Brand. Alongside the legendary Air Jordan 1 and perhaps the Air Jordan 4, each new colorway of the Air Jordan 11 sells instantly.
The use of new materials and technologies appeals to many people then and now. But what really makes the shoe so popular is the use of patent leather around the sneaker.
Now let's get to the story behind the special Jordan: Shortly before Michael Jordan retired for the first time in 1993, he was shown the first prototypes of the Air Jordan 11. Michael Jordan was immediately very surprised and in love with what Tinker Hatfield and former designer Ken Black had created.
When Michael Jordan returned from retirement in March 1995, he actually wore the Air Jordan 11 much earlier than some at Nike would have liked him to. Michael Jordan wore the "Concord" colorway for the entire season. That was something very special at the time, because many players changed their shoes after every half of a game.
But what makes the Air Jordan 11 so special? The Air Jordan 11 had a design that no one had ever seen before. It combined luxury with basketball and made basketball lovers and sneakerheads go crazy for the kicks.
The Jordan Brand has also done well over the last 25 years to release the Air Jordan 11 in different, special styles while still keeping the silhouette very interesting.
Air Jordan 11 Retro 'Jubilee' - the Details
The anniversary version of the sneaker has been given a black and white colorway. The upper is completely black and comes with the iconic patent leather around the shoe. Some silver details can be found as highlights on the sneaker, such as the Jumpman logo, the 23 on the heel and the JORDAN lettering on the eyelets. Another nice detail is the insole with the inscription "25". This, of course, once again immortalises the 25th birthday of the kicks. Underneath the upper is a white outsole combined with a transparent outsole.
The Air Jordan 11 Retro 'Jubilee' will be released on Saturday, 12 December. As already mentioned, the sneaker will be available for the whole family. Here you can get an overview of all the models and some fancy photos!
