Warrior Shanghai

In 1927, the Warrior brand was founded in Shanghai, China.

Warrior's sneakers were the first shoes in China to come with a rubber sole. The shoes sold for as little as 10 yuan at the time, making them very affordable for any working class.

In 2017, the brand was brought to the Netherlands.

Warrior sneakers can be recognised by their simplistic design.

The upper is made of canvas with the Warrior logo across the upper.

Since its inception, Warrior has introduced several models such as the ACE and the DIME that also use materials such as leather and suede.

The History of Warrior Shanghai

A rubber factory was established in Yangpu District on Tangshan Road in 1927. Here, galoshes were produced, which were rubber protective covers that were slipped over the shoe to protect them longer.

In 1935 the names "Huili" and "Warrior" are both registered, the beginning of the well-known Warrior sneakers that we still know today. Designed for the lower class, the shoes were very affordable.

The rubber factory began sponsoring a local Chinese basketball team in 1940. The Warrior sneakers were soon picked up by the rest of China and in Hong Kong. The brand distinguished themselves in their tactical marketing strategies. For example, during a sporting event in Shanghai in 1948, flyers were released from an airplane promoting the brand and contributing to Warrior's success.

Warrior began providing professional sneakers for China's national team in 1949. The brand gained worldwide recognition.

The Dutch duo Wout Meulemans and Fons Lagendijk brought the Chinese brand Warrior to the Netherlands in 2017. The brand has become a true cult classic and is worn by celebrities worldwide.
