The Nike Air Max 270
The Air Max 270, which is also popularly known as the Nike 270 or Nike Air 270, was inspired by several models in the Nike Air Max archive and was the brand’s first lifestyle Air Unit. Although they was developed for the streets, and are very popular amongst sneakerheads, they can also be used for working out in, as they are designed with the same rigorous specifications as other Nike performance sneakers.
Nike Footwear Designer Marie Odinot was the designer behind the Air Max 270, developing the distinctive upper on the model. The name 270 comes from an internal Nike nickname for the Air Max 93, in which the model had a 270-degree visible Air Unit. The shoe had the largest Air unit of any Nike Air Max shoe until the arrival of the Nike Air Max 720, with a 32mm heel.
The gigantic Air unit is, just like the name, also based on that of the Air Max 93. The lines on the upper 270 are inspired by the Air Max 180. Additionally, some sneakerheads claim that it looks a bit like the Air Max 90.
NBA superstar Kevin Durant had confidence in the Nike 270 early on and wore them in the warm-up for several basketball games in the NBA. Nike had to make the biggest ever size of Air Max 270 for this, as Kevin Durant is a 55!
The AM270 model has a woven and synthetic textile upper for a lightweight feel, and a foam midsole for comfort. A rubber outsole provides grip and durability, and mesh details add breathability. A padded sockliner offers a personalised fit.
The Air Max 270 was first released in February 2018 in a Light Bone/Hot Punch colorway, with an 'Ultramarine' colorway for the ladies and a 'Dusty Cactus' colorway for the men following shortly afterwards in March for Nike Air Max Day.
Upon release, Nike Air Max 270 retail around €150.
Generally, the AM270 does fit true to size, but you might consider sizing up a half size if you have wide feet as the toebox can be a little tight.
