The Nike Air Humara first hit the scene in 1997, designed as a rugged trail-running shoe that bridges outdoor utility and street-level style. Its name and much of its design inspiration come from the Tarahumara (or Rarámuri) people of northern Mexico, known for their endurance in running across difficult terrain.
The Humara features a durable mix of suede, leather, and mesh for the upper, a rubber toe cap for protection, and a grippy thick outsole with lug-style tread for traction both uphill and down. In the sole you get hybrid cushioning of Zoom Air in the forefoot for responsiveness, and Nike Air for impact absorption.
