The New Balance 2002

Andrew Nyssen designed the New Balance 2002 in 2010, the successor to the New Balance 2001, and is made in the United States by New Balance. The New Balance 2002 model returned in 2020 with a new design 10 years after the original was released.

With the 2002's quality improving so much, the sneaker became more costly and popular. The running shoes, which used to retail for $100, rose to $250 after 30 years. Known for its chunky design, the New Balance 2002 entered the market at the height of the 'Dad Shoe' trend.

New Balance 2002 Design

New Balance's Japanese division's creative director, Tetsuya Shono, replaced the original sole with the N-ERGY sole in 2020. During physical activities, the N-ERGY sole provides enhanced comfort and shock absorption. This sole combines foam and proprietary compounds to relieve stress on the feet and joints, making it more comfortable and supportive.

Popular NB 2002 Collabs

New Balance has collaborated with some of the biggest names in fashion and streetwear, including some of the most popular New Balance 2002R collaborations.

Out of the most popular we find the New Balance 2002R X GANNI features striking stitching and a green outsole. We also have the collab with Bryant Giles X New Balance 2002R; a Los Angeles-based artist, who has unleashed his creativity on the 2002R, which features olive green canvas topped with his original art in black, yellow, green and pink stitching.

Finally, Joe Freshgoods has come a long way from making shirts with a desktop printer to designing his own collaboration with New Balance in the Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 2002R - Conversations Amongst Us.
