Tiger Woods breaks contract with Nike

Golf icon Tiger Woods is breaking his contract with Nike after more than 27 years. At age 20, the top American athlete signed with Nike for 40 million euros, the largest deal signed in the world of golf at the time. Now, nearly three decades later, Woods is breaking his contract.

After some 27 years, Woods is breaking his deal with Nike for reasons still unknown. The deal would have netted the golfer some more than 450 million. Through an Instagram post, Woods announced that he is grateful for everything he has done and accomplished at Nike.

The 15-time major champion also tells us that he is not done with golf yet, and there is definitely a next chapter to come. In February, he will be in Los Angeles to host the Genesis Invitational. He hasn't really been convincing for a while. At the end of November, he made his comeback at the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas - there he could not really impress his opponents.

Before that, Woods had not played a tournament since April after withdrawing from the Masters in Augusta due to a sore foot. Shortly after Augusta, Woods underwent surgery on his leg that he shattered in a serious car accident in 2021.

So all eyes will certainly be on Woods again next month. For now, the player is not thinking of quitting, even now that he has parted ways with Nike. Should you read more posts like this one, check out the Sneakerjagers news page.
