Especially for 4/20, Nike and Todd Bratrud release the SB Dunk High 'Strawberry Cough'. In 2020, the first images of this fruity pair surfaced, but were not released yet. Now, the kicks finally got an official release date and the pair will be dropped on Friday, October 22, 2021.
4/20 began in 1971 when a group of teenagers got together at 4:20PM to smoke pot. At the time, this was still illegal in California. The teens decided to smoke at this time every time. This eventually became a regular time for them. Thus, it became more and more popular over the years and 20 April has become a kind of holiday for smoking weed.

Besides the 'Strawberry Cough', Todd Bratrud has designed several other pairs of the SB Dunk for 4/20. The artist released the model in a 'Skunk' colorway in 2010 and the 'White Widow' was released in 2018.
As the name suggests, the silhouette takes on elements of a strawberry. The sneaker is constructed from mesh, leather and chunky suede. The front of the model comes dressed in a red jacket and the heel turns green. The Swoosh on the middle panel also shares the green colour.
On the side of the heel and on the insoles is a coughing strawberry, this detail refers to the name of the shoe. Finally, the midsoles and outsoles of the kicks are see-through.
